What does the elephant walk by the IAF means

The term Elephant walk dates back to the  WORLD WAR 2 when the large fleets of bombers had to take of for the bombing missions in europe and it included more t5han 1000 bomber aircrafts . Those who observed this said that the taxing of the aircraft from nose to tail configuration taking off in a single filed  looked like elephants walking in a field and from there the term elephant walk originated

The benefits of these exercises is that a airforce can show its strength of deploying maximum numbers of its aircrafts at a given point of time and this also depicts the bond of synergy between the airmen and the pilots of different squadrons in a air force

As advised by the Prime Minister of India to celebrate the 75 years of independence all around the country and as well as the armed forces the IAF has done its part and has payed its homage to the fallen heroes of India  both before and after the independence by conducting a massive elephant walk on its Ambala Air Force base which is one of the two home bases  of the Rafale aircraft of the Indian Air Force

In this elephant walk a total of 75 aircrafts participated to celebrate the 75 Years of Independence and in this out of the total 75 aircrafts 25 where the French Rafales and the other 50 where the SEPECAT Jaguar fighter bombers

SIGNIFICANCE

1.   TACTICS

If we look at the images released by the Indian air force it is a very impressive package of one air superiority aircraft and two other ground attack fighter bomber aircrafts by its side and this can be used very effectively at the time of war . Such packages would ensure both the elimination of both enemy`s air superiority and destruction of the Air and ground defences of the enemy and would make it very easy for the Ground forces to take a huge chunk of land from the enemy territory

2.   PLACE

The Distance of this air base from both the adversaries of India i.e China and Pakistan is just 200 km and so if any given point o0f time the IAF had to go to war then they could reach the borders of these countries in a record time of just 5 to 10 minutes and with these walks the IAF would be able to deploy maximum fighter in the air at the time of WAR

3.   TIME

So if we look at the changing geopolitics i Afghanistan where the Afghan Taliban have taken over the country and ever since the takeover on 15 august 2021 each and every promise made by the talibani top brass had been a PR stunt to get a recognition of legitimate government of Afghanistan from the world. And so India could not take chance to believe on the promise of taliban that the afghan taliban would not not help pakistan spread terrorism in Kashmir again

And as well this elephant walk has been done at a time when the last US soldier had been evacuated from the soil of Afghanistan and this can be sen as a warning of India to Afghan Taliban that if the Taliban regime tries to send terrorists to India then India could also strike them again where it hurts

4.  MESSAGE

The Rafales are the newest fighter of the Indian airforce and the Jaguars which are been use in this exercise are more than 40 years old so the IAF wants to send a clear message to both the enemies that at any any given point of time maximum fighters of the IAF could be used in war whether it would be the newest fighter or the oldest fighter with its high caliber of maintaining the aircraft for years

So to day we are going to discuss about the EOTS , which is going to be placed on the advanced medium combat aircraft that is the amca . So to start with the BLOG we first need to know that what  is a EOTS system , and how does it helps The Fighter Pilots to track enemy aircraft . starting with the full form of eots , it stands for electro-optical targeting system , which is an  high-performance, lightweight, multi-function system that provides precision air-to-air and air-to-surface targeting capability  Usually fighter aircraft use radar to detect the enemy aircraft , but since the technology has advanced and with the introduction of radar warning receivers , it is very easy for the enemy aircraft to pickup the searching aircraft , as the radar which detects aircraft releases radio waves which can be picked up by The Radar warning receiver and ,  if such scenarios occur where the radars of an aircraft are jammed by the electronic  warfare  equipment of the ene

FUTURE OF MMRCA 2.0

The indian air force on 28 August 2007 initiated a program MRCA or  Multi role combat aircraft to procure a total of 126 fighter aircrafts at a cost of 55,000 crore rupees or $7.7 billion and the programme was to fulfill the gap between the Lighter fighter i the indian air force i.e the LCA Tejas and the heavyweight fighter SU 30 MKI The contest featured 6 fighters from all around the world and they are as follows American F 18 and F21 which was the upgraded variant of the american F 16  which is also used by Pakistan , French Rafale , European union's Eurofighter Typhoon , Russian Mig 35 and t5he swedish SAAB Gripen   . On 27 April 2011 after a rigorous tech evaluation by the Indian air force the Eurofighter Typhoon and the French Rafale where selected but since both the aircrafts where of the western origin , They had very high cost and the budget exceeded the  allotted fund for the programme . And at the same time the Indian air force had ver
